I’ve been trying to come up with an interesting approach to discussing Juicy Campus on this blog. I wanted some way to express why the site is simultaneously awesome and horrifying.

Wouldn’t you know - Siva beat me to it. Check out his brief thoughts on Juicy Campus, privacy policy, and reputation management.

THIS SITE IS DISGUSTING….. EVERYONE SHOULD PUT THEIR EFFORTS INTO SHUTING IT DOWN INSTEAD OF TALKING ABOUT EACHOTHER. WE ARE ALL IN COLLEGE NOW….THIS SHIT IS WORSE THAN HIGHSCHOOL DRAMA. NOT TO MENTION THIS SHIT CAN RUIN REPUTATIONS AND PEOPLES LIVES EVERYWHERE.
IF YOUR NOT HELPING TO SHUT DOWN THIS SITE….YOUR ONLY HELPING TO MAKE THIS SITE BIGGER AND RUIN MORE LIVES. ITS AGREED BY ALOT OF PEOPLE THAT THIS SITE IS BULLSHIT. MAYB WHEN U FINALLY GET THE CHANCE TO READ SOME DISGUSTING RUMORS ABOUT YOURSELF OR YOUR SIBLINGS OR YOUR FRIENDS, THEN YOULL UNDERSTAND AND FINALLY DO SOMETHING.

THIS SITE IS ONLY GOING TO GET BIGGER…… MORE PEOPLE ARE GOING TO POST AND EVENTUALLY YOU WILL BE THE TOPIC FOR DISCUSSION

IF YOU WANT TO HELP

POST THIS OR SOMETHING LIKE THIS ON YOUR SCHOOL SITE IF U WANT TO HELP

Dear Anonymous, I gathered as much. Thanks.

Please take a moment to read my post, and then read the linked-to blog. It simply engages in an honest discussion of privacy policy and the Internet. Notice that I declared the site both awesome and horrifying.

It certainly highlights many of the less savory qualities of our younger generation. But shutting it down doesn’t mean people get nicer by default. Rather, at the moment Juicy Campus gives us a fascinating platform with which to consider the issues of privacy, reputation management, anonymous speech, and free speech vs. hate speech on the Internet.
